CAN THO MARATHON – HERITAGE RACE 2024: RUNNING COURSE

Marking its 4th year, the Can Tho International Heritage Marathon introduces innovations by offering athletes a journey through the historic timeline of the proud land of Tây Đô.

In the 2024 season, Binh Thuy District officially makes its debut on the race map with a wide, cool canal-side road, free from intersections or conflicts. This area is also famous for its solemn, majestic pagodas, ancient temples, and the historic Bình Thủy ancient house, which is over 150 years old.

Along the route, athletes will have the opportunity to step on the iconic Lộ Vòng Cung, once known as the "belt of fire," where local soldiers and civilians bravely fought the enemy, even as the land was ravaged by bombs and bullets. Today, Lộ Vòng Cung has been recognized as a national historical site.

Overcoming historical ups and downs, Can Tho now shines with vibrant greenery, modernity, and renewal. The marathon route, along with other distances, will start and finish at the Song Hau Park Square in Cai Khe Ward, Ninh Kieu District— the cultural, economic, and political center of the entire city.

In addition to significant improvements in route design, the event organizers have prioritized security and safety to provide the best experience for athletes. The entire route will be equipped with many water stations, medical stations, and mobile sanitation points, with hundreds of volunteers assigned to ensure safety along the race course. Specially, many fixed photographer points will be set up to capture the best moments of the athletes, marking the meaningful journey.

Additionally, this year's Can Tho International Heritage Marathon route has officially been certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
