More than just a new representative image of this year’s event, the Delacour’s langur also serves as a reminder of Vietnam’s precious natural heritage, where many primate species are facing population decline and the risk of disappearing from their natural habitats.
Among them, several langur species endemic to Vietnam have been classified as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List.
Illegal hunting and habitat loss continue to threaten many langur species. Protecting the Delacour’s langur also means helping preserve Vietnam’s forests and the diversity of its ecosystems.
